Moving with Pets

Moving with pets can be a challenging but rewarding experience. Here are a few tips to help make the transition easier for both you and your furry friends:

  1. Plan ahead: Start preparing for the move well in advance and make a list of everything you need to do to ensure that your pets are safe and comfortable during the move. This can include making arrangements for pet-friendly accommodations, purchasing a carrier or crate, and making sure that your pets have all of their necessary vaccinations and medications.
  2. Keep your pets safe: During the move, make sure that your pets are safe and secure at all times. This can include keeping them in a carrier or crate when they are in the moving vehicle* and making sure that they are supervised at all times when they are outside of the crate.
  3. Introduce your pets to their new home gradually: When you arrive at your new home, take your time introducing your pets to their new surroundings. Allow them to explore their new home at their own pace, and make sure that they have a safe, comfortable space to retreat to when they need a break from the unfamiliar environment.
  4. Stay calm and patient: Moving can be stressful for both you and your pets, so it's important to stay calm and patient throughout the process. Remember that your pets are likely to be feeling anxious and confused, so provide them with plenty of love, reassurance, and treats to help them feel comfortable in their new home.

By following these tips, you can help make your move with pets as smooth and stress-free as possible.

*Check with your mover if they can transport an occupied pet carrier in their vehicle. You may need to transport it in your car.
