A Gudie to items that should not be stored:
We are all very good at refering to the terms and confditions, but are we guilty of not reading them ourselves ? while the office staff might have a good idea, what about the guys on the road whos job it is to pack and load the goods?
According to the Association of Independent Movers (AIM), certain items are prohibited from being moved or stored due to legal restrictions, insurance limitations, or potential risks to other stored goods. Members are required to specify these prohibited items in their Terms & Conditions. A typical list includes:
Valuables: Passports, travel documents, wallets, handbags containing valuables, mobile phones, portable IT devices, electronic devices, currency, cash, bank or credit cards, jewelry, watches, trinkets, precious stones, money, deeds, securities, stamps, coins, and valuable or fragile collections of any kind.
Perishable Items: Goods that are perishable and/or require a controlled environment.
Hazardous Materials: Dangerous, damaging, or explosive items, including e-scooters, paint, aerosols, ammunition, firearms, or weapons of any kind.
Living Organisms: Animals and plants.
Items Likely to Attract Pests or Cause Infection: Goods, including food, likely to encourage vermin or other pests or to cause infection.
Illegally Possessed Goods: Goods that require special licenses or government permission for export or import; and prohibited or stolen goods or drugs.
